By adopting sustainable farming techniques like conservation tillage (limiting soil disturbance), crop rotation (diversifying plant species), and cover cropping (protecting bare soil with vegetation), farmers can help maximize rainwater infiltration and minimize runoff.

Additionally, implementing precision irrigation systems that deliver just the right amount of water at the right time can prevent excess irrigation from becoming wasted runoff that doesn’t recharge the groundwater.
