Implementing these models requires collaboration between businesses along supply chains while incorporating local stakeholders’ perspectives. Governments can provide incentives and regulations that encourage businesses to adopt these models while also promoting consumer education and awareness.

This strategy involves measures such as developing new business models, encouraging sharing platforms, improving recycling rates, and promoting sustainable procurement practices.
A third example is the city of San Francisco in California, USA which has set ambitious goals for zero waste through its Zero Waste Program. The program includes initiatives such as composting food scraps, recycling materials like paper and plastic packaging into new products or using them as fuel for energy production rather than dumping them in landfills
